Cokie Roberts

An award-winning journalist and a familiar presence on ABC News and NPR where she serves as a commentator, Cokie Roberts is also passionate about American history.  She has written acclaimed and best-selling works – most notably Founding Mothers and Ladies of Liberty -- on the women who played leading roles in the American Revolution and the early republic.

Cokie Roberts holds more than twenty honorary degrees, serves on the boards of several non-profit institutions, including National History Day, an NEH-supported history project for K-12 students.  President Bush appointed her to his Commission on Service and Civic Participation.

In 2008 the Library of Congress named her a "Living Legend," one of the very few Americans to have attained that honor. She is the mother of two and grandmother of six.
